Fire

Fire is something that could be kindled (3 Nephi 8:21). Nephi made a bellows of “the skins of beasts” to “blow the fire,” then smote “two stones together” that he might make fire (1 Nephi 17:11).

The Lord had not suffered Nephi’s party to make much fire while they journeyed in the wilderness, saying, “I will make thy food become sweet, that ye cook it not” (1 Nephi 17:12). In darkness, fire could not be kindled with “fine and exceedingly dry wood” (3 Nephi 8:21).

The speaker declared, “I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire,” who brings forth an instrument for his work (3 Nephi 22:16).
