Flocks are groups of animals. Nephi’s people “began to raise flocks, and herds, and animals of every kind” after sowing seed and reaping in abundance (2 Nephi 5:11). The people of Nephi raised “flocks of herds, and flocks of all manner of cattle of every kind,” along with goats, wild goats, and horses (Enos 1:21). King Benjamin’s people took “the firstlings of their flocks” for sacrifice and burnt offerings according to the law of Moses (Mosiah 2:3).
King Limhi caused his people to gather their flocks, and they departed by night into the wilderness with flocks and herds toward Zarahemla under Ammon’s guidance (Mosiah 22:10-11). Ammon served King Lamoni by watching his flocks, and the servants drove them to the water of Sebus, where other Lamanites scattered them (Alma 17:25-27). Ammon and the servants gathered the king’s flocks again, watered them, and returned them “to the pasture of the king” (Alma 17:32, 39).
