Forests are places where people hunted and where animals were found. Those who journeyed in the wilderness found “beasts in the forests of every kind,” including “the cow and the ox” and “all manner of wild animals” (1 Nephi 18:25). Enos went “to hunt beasts in the forests” (Enos 1:3).
Limhi gathered his people and “laid wait for them in the fields and in the forests” after discovering preparations for war (Mosiah 20:8). In Lib’s days, people went southward to hunt because “the land was covered with animals of the forest,” and Lib became “a great hunter” (Ether 10:19).
