Military Preparation is the arranging of Nephite forces and defenses against Lamanite attack. Moroni sent spies to watch the Lamanite camp and asked Alma where Nephite armies should go “to defend themselves against the Lamanites” (Alma 43:23).
Moroni gathered people in Manti for battle, and they “were prepared against the time of the coming of the Lamanites” (Alma 43:26). He caused armies to dig “heaps of earth round about all the cities” throughout Nephite lands (Alma 50:1).
After Teancum killed Amalickiah in his tent, he returned to his camp and awoke his men (Alma 51:34–35). Teancum caused his armies to “stand in readiness” in case the Lamanites came upon them (Alma 51:36).
