Warfare is armed conflict involving armies, weapons, defenses, and battles. Moroni prepared the Nephites with “breastplates and with arm-shields” and shields to defend their heads (Alma 43:19). He placed spies around the Lamanite camp and used their reported course to “defend them by stratagem” (Alma 43:28-30). Moroni strengthened vulnerable fortifications with greater numbers of men (Alma 48:9-10).
Teancum entered Amalickiah’s camp at night and “put a javelin to his heart,” then prepared his armies for a possible attack (Alma 51:33-52:2). Moroni decoyed the Lamanites from Mulek, occupied the city, and ordered his men to fight until they surrendered their weapons (Alma 52:20-40). At Cumorah, Mormon said, “my men were hewn down, yea, even my ten thousand who were with me” (Mormon 6:10-15).
