The city of Jacob was one of the Nephite cities destroyed at the time of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The Lord’s voice, heard in the darkness after the destruction, named it among the cities he had caused to be sunk, with hills and valleys made in their places and the inhabitants buried up in the depths of the earth, to hide their wickedness and abominations from his face so that the blood of the prophets and saints would no longer come up against them (3 Nephi 9:8).
